Overview

WeLearnEnglish ("we", "our", "the app") is an English language learning application. We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling your data responsibly. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and how we use it.

Data We Collect

Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your email address and display name (via email/password sign-up or Google Sign-In). This is used solely for authentication and personalizing your experience.

Learning Progress: We store your lesson completion status, exercise scores, exam results, XP points, vocabulary review data, and placement test results. This data powers your personalized learning experience.

Voice Recordings: When you use pronunciation practice or the AI conversation partner, your device microphone captures audio which is processed in real-time for speech recognition. Audio is processed ephemerally and is not stored on our servers.

Purchase Information: If you subscribe to PRO, Google Play handles the transaction. We store only your subscription status, not payment details.

Device Identifiers: Our advertising partner (Google AdMob) may collect device advertising identifiers to serve relevant ads. PRO subscribers do not see ads.

How We Use Your Data

• To provide and personalize your learning experience
• To track your progress across lessons, exercises, and exams
• To power AI-assisted features (grammar checking, conversation practice, writing feedback)
• To manage your account and PRO subscription status
• To display ads to free-tier users (via Google AdMob)

Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored securely on Supabase (hosted in the EU) and transmitted using HTTPS encryption. Local progress data is also cached on your device using encrypted shared preferences.

• Anthropic (Claude AI) - AI tutoring features (no personal data is sent; only lesson content)

We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with the third-party services listed above, strictly for the purposes described in this policy.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access your personal data
• Request correction of inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your account and all associated data
• Opt out of personalized advertising (via your device settings)

Children's Privacy

WeLearnEnglish is designed for users aged 13 and above. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected data from a child under 13, we will delete it promptly.
